Deputy Managing Director Claire Bord has acquired World English Language rights in ebook, paperback, and audio for a WW2 Guernsey set novel by Jenny O’Brien from Nicola Barr at The Bent Agency. The Nightingale List follows the story of Evelyn Nightingale, a teacher turned nurse who uses her position at the hospital to save patients from the Nazis on occupied Guernsey. Over eighty years later, Kitty Le Page discovers Evelyn’s hidden diary and unravels a long-buried family secret.

Bord commented:

‘I was blown away when Jenny shared her meticulously researched idea for this story, complete with local archive photographs of the hospital’s doctors and nurses. As a Guernsey native, Jenny is uniquely positioned to bring to light this remarkable tale of resistance and one woman’s extraordinary courage during the German occupation of the island. It’s an utterly heartbreaking story rooted in the real history of Guernsey.’

O’Brien said:

‘Writing a book set in Guernsey during the occupation has been something I have wanted to do for a while but it had to be the right story. It took months of research to come up with something which I think is pretty special. Claire Bord, and the team at Storm Publishing have been absolutely amazing at helping to bring this book to fruition.’

The Nightingale List will be released on 11th April 2025 in ebook, audio and paperback.
