Editorial Director Vicky Blunden has acquired World All Language rights in a new five-book series by Kate Wiley. The first book, In the Blood, will publish in February 2024, and introduces homicide detective Margot Phalen.
Margot wishes she could forget who she is. At fifteen, she learned the inescapable truth that her father Ed was a serial killer who for decades used the Bay Area as his hunting ground. Twenty years later, she has spent her whole life trying to make amends for his misdeeds. But as she and her partner try to unravel the mystery of a murdered family whose sole survivor is giving them more questions than answers, Margot’s past rears its ugly head.
Kate Wiley is an established crime writer who has published in multiple genres; she writes cozy mysteries as Gretchen Rue, and the popular Secret McQueen supernatural thriller / urban fantasy series as Sierra Dean. Witches’ Brew, her supernatural rom-com series, will be published in the UK by Head of Zeus.
“I’m over the moon excited to have signed with Storm Publishing and to be bringing this series to life with them. Margot and her story have been haunting me as an author for years, and I knew immediately that Vicky and the team at Storm saw how special the character was. Their enthusiasm for the book and series were palpable. I’ve published a lot it books in my career and I’m so thrilled to be taking this next journey with Vicky and the team at Storm.”
“I started telling anyone who would listen how brilliant In the Blood was and how much I loved it when I was just one chapter in; I genuinely couldn’t put this book down or stop thinking about it. Kate is such an accomplished writer and the twists and turns in her storytelling are breath-taking. I cannot wait to launch this series and see readers become as totally addicted to Kate’s writing as I am.”
