We’re delighted to announce that Commissioning Editor Kate Smith has acquired World English Language rights, in addition to film, TV and translation rights, for two contemporary women’s fiction books by debut author Caroline Young.

Both novels are set on the island of Anglesey and explore complex emotional themes with elements of romance, family secrets and a cast of memorable characters.

In the first novel, to be published on 12 October 2023, thirty-something Nan Green moves to Anglesey with her husband Robin and their young twin daughters, taking on the challenge of renovating a dilapidated farmhouse by the sea. Nan’s dream of island life soon crumbles before her eyes as she discovers her husband is keeping secrets – and he’s not the only one. The old farmhouse has a history nobody wants to talk about. As her marriage breaks down and long-kept secrets finally come into the open, Nan struggles to overcome her past, finding new love and a sense of community in the process.

Based on Anglesey, Young works as a writer and editor for Usborne where she has published over twenty non-fiction titles for children on a wide range of subjects.
