Editorial Director Vicky Blunden has acquired World All Language rights, including film and TV for The Disappearance of Daisy Jane. The novel is a dark and devastating psychological thriller in which a small town’s dark secret connects three women across thirty years.

In 1990, Daisy Jane—quiet, watchful, and from the wrong side of town—walks to the local video store and is never seen again. Her disappearance briefly grips the nation, but when the cameras leave, the case freezes over. Nearly thirty years later, true-crime podcaster Marnie Combs arrives in town determined to resurrect Daisy’s story. Her ten-part investigation exposes buried connections, unsettling patterns, and a shadowy influence that once ruled the town. In 2025, bedridden and pregnant, Willa Fairhaven becomes obsessed with Marnie’s newly re-released podcast. Her husband—raised in Daisy’s hometown—refuses to let her listen. But when he leaves the house, she tunes in, and begins her own research. The more Willa digs, the more paranoid she becomes, and the more she suspects the danger isn’t in the past at all. It’s sleeping beside her.

Kate Wiley is an established crime writer, author of the Detective Margot Phalen series, who has published in multiple genres; she writes cozy mysteries as Gretchen Rue, and the popular Secret McQueen supernatural thriller / urban fantasy series as Sierra Dean.

Wiley says,

“I’m so beyond excited to be continuing my relationship with the wonderful folks at Storm Publishing. The Disappearance of Daisy Jane has been an idea brewing in my mind for years, and I can’t wait for the world to meet these three complicated women and try to unravel what connects them all. A huge thank you to my editor Vicky Blunden for taking a chance on a standalone thriller from me and believing in this story from its most nascent stages. I feel so blessed to work with the team at Storm, who believe in their authors so much.”

Blunden says,

“Kate has crafted something truly haunting here; a story that weaves together three timelines with such precision and psychological depth that I found myself racing through chapters late into the night. The way she explores how secrets fester in small towns, and the courage it takes for women to expose the truth, is both chilling and profoundly moving. Kate’s ability to build tension while keeping readers emotionally invested in these characters is a feature of all of her writing and is really extraordinary. I’m thrilled to be publishing what I know will be one of the most talked-about psychological thrillers of the year.”
